Minn-y-soda

Dedicated to my good friend, Slot Mazeltov.
Ok I know all my devoted readers have been on the edge of their seats, in anticipation of a new blog entry from me about my  mundane life.
So here it is...
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of  busyness and laziness (just being honest here) and that is the reason for my delayed entry.
But now I get to tell you about our family trip to Minnesota.
Minnesota? You think...
Yes, I respond.
In the middle of winter? You wonder...
Yes, I sigh.
But WHY??!!! You exclaim...
Because...that's all I can come up with.
No, really...it's because of a little thing called "friendship."
Boy you must be really good friends, you say.
And I respond with a resounding YES!
A few years ago we met an amazing family. A married couple (I won't say for how long as to not show their age, but their oldest  daughter is now in college, haha) and their 4 beautiful daughters moved to our hometown in Cincy and dived right into our church and into our lives. I remember when we first met them, and feeling a little afraid of this man who looked a lot like Vin Diesel, and they wanted to know more about helping with the youth group at our church. From that point on it wasn't only Saturday night dinners after church and late night coffee breaks but also actually doing ministry together. There is nothing like that feeling of being able to do God's work with people who you don't call just friends, but family. They were there through our struggles and good times.
After a few years of being in Cincinnati they were called to Minnesota for a job. And after a tearful goodbye they were on their way to their new home.
I know people come in and out of our lives all the time. That's  the way life is. But there are those people who you just have a connection with and nothing (even 700+miles) will break that  bond.
That week we did a lot of things from going to an aquarium, to going to The Mall of America (how can you pass that up?) and dancing and boxing my friend, and going to one of the 10,000 (or is it 1,000,000?) lakes for a festival (where I slipped and fell on the ice, but I'm ok) and just being COLD!  But even though it's been a year and a half since we've seen them we just found the ease of our relationship come back to us. And that's how you know you are truly friends!
So with that I will leave you with a great verse: Proverbs 17:17- A friend loves at all times...

Thank you, friends!
